Does Out of Place Grease Cap Indicate a Need for Replacement

Question:

Hello, I’ve noticed that the one of the wheel hub’s metal ring that holds the dust cap in place has more play than the others on our trailer. I repacked the bearings last year. Does the movement of the metal ring indicate that a replacement is needed? We have a 2015 Keystone Passport 238ML. Thank you!

It looks like your dust cap shifted out of place somehow. There is nothing designed to indicate a need for replacement, but that is not the way it should look. I would pull it off all the way and inspect it. If it looks fine drive it back in and make sure it is a snug fit. If it appears to have an issue go ahead and replace it. If you want to be on the safe side I say go ahead and replace it either way.

I have attached a link to our E-Z lube grease caps below if you need a replacement. You can choose the correct one by matching it to what you currently have based on outer diameter.
